- 15.07.2007).

Uploaded on July 4, 2007 by Hans Heiner Buhr

GESCHICHTE:

Alexandre Dumas in Sumgayit

CONFLICT:

Crossfire War - Third Day of Fighting in South Caucasus
By Willard Payne

Crossfire War - Moscow - Tskhinvili - Washington Watch - South Caucasus Theatre: Moscow - Berlin - Washington - Yerevan - Sukhumi - Baku - Tskhinvili/Tbilisi - Ankara - Teheran; Third Day of Fighting in South Caucasus The Deciding Theatre Night Watch:

TAMARASHENI - Fighting continued for a third day on Saturday between Georgian troops and units from the separatist republic of South Ossetia, which is supported by Moscow.
Al Jazeera reports two people were injured when Georgian troops fired on the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvili and two other villages. Spokesman for Tskhinvili, Andrei Patayev said Georgian troops launched grenade attacks Friday. Both sides accuse the other for starting the war which will finally resolve the territorial dispute that actually began at the end of the Cold War in 1990.
Most of South Ossetia's 60,000 population identifies with Russia so they elected to secede. The commander of Georgian forces in South Ossetia, Mamuka Kurashvili stated Saturday, "Rocket-propelled grenades were launched today for one to two hours from the Ossetian village of Kverneti." [
ALJAZEERA]
Moscow, with industrial and logistical support from Berlin-Washington, will use this theatre to not only defeat Tbilisi but to also end the supply network set up by Ankara-Teheran in support of Georgia. Russia has also accused some of the newer NATO members, governments that used to be in the Warsaw Pact, of selling weapons to Georgia.
As an example of Washington's serious concern the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon, General Peter Pace, was sent to Russia for four days in late October and while there he visited the base of a Russian airborne unit. Despite the Pentagon still trying to withdraw from Iraq it can still arrange air support for Russia.
As a follow up to Pace's visit Dr. Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State, arrived in Moscow in late April to co-chair a strategic working group with former Russia Premier Yevgeny Primakov. Results of their planning are now being felt, in this the decisive theatre in the war since it is the only one the Allies can threaten Iran directly. But since Teheran does not hate Russia as much as it hates the West-India (in support of Pakistan and the Muslims in Kashmir) Teheran will oppose Moscow only by working through groups and governments in the Caucasus opposed to Russia.
Access to vital energy resources and pipelines between the Black and Caspian Sea are at stake here. Despite all the public statements and photo ops that will be staged between U.S. President George W. Bush and Russia President Vladimir Putin, I suspect at the top of their agenda is this new fighting, which in the very near future they will issue coordinated statements concerning it.

MUSIK: Empfehlung: Tutarchela aus Georgien spielt zweimal beim TFF Rudolstadt zum Folk-Festival

Tutarchela (GEO)

Ruth Olshan (
GEORGIA & SOUTH CAUCASUS: Ruth Olshan) hat sie eindrucksvoll in ihrem Film "Wie Luft zum Atmen" in Szene gesetzt.

RUDOLSTADT 2007 - THE BIGGEST WORLD-MUSIC-FESTIVAL IN GERMANY

FIRST GEORGIAN WOMEN'S CHOIR SINGING LIKE MEN!

Tutarchela – Young Girl Singing Company

The girls' choir “Tutarchela” was established at the beginning of 2004 in Rustavi, under the guidance of Mrs. Tamar Buadze. The choir consists of 13 singers. Most of the girls have graduated from Tbilisi State conservatory's choir-conducting department. The group performs European and classic songs, folk songs of different countries as well as the folk songs of all the regions of Georgia.
For the short time of existence of the choir it has learned and performed wide repertoire of various genres. As to a women's choir, tutarchelas repertoire is standing out with its originality. They perform lots of Georgian folk songs which as a rule are sung only by the men. By the way, Tutarchela is the first Georgian choir which try to challenge the men singers. Choir's low voices are absolutely tremendous and the listener would never imagine it is performed by the women. It can provide an indispensable sounding board for even the hardest pieces to perform. Notably, the repertoire of the young singing girls is mainly represented by the ‘manly' songs, requiring a great deal of energy and emotion.
Very significant place in their repertoire is taken by lazic folk songs arranged by Mrs. Tamar Buadze. Lazeti once belonged to Georgia but at the moment it is Turkey`s territory. To collect forgotten, old songs from lazeti and transfer them into Georgian, traditional folk style was a conductor's great experiment and had a tremendous success.
Ensemble has recorded a
CD just after 5 months of its foundation. There are 23 folk songs from all parts of Georgia.

Hotel Patio in Sheki, Azerbaijan

Uploaded on October 31, 2006 by Tomke Lask
They were making a film using the hotel for the casting of the story. It was very funny, because I didn't know that there was a film being done and I wondered why there were so many people in strange and colourful traditional outfits in the hotel.

The pictures are from a trip to Azerbaijan following Alexandre Dumas' voyage as he described it in his book 'Le Caucase' (http://www.dumaspere.com/)
It was on behalf of the Council of Europe and the European Institute of Cultural Routes that I participated in this mission that was to analyse the feasability of an Alexandre Dumas' cultural route from Daghestan to Azerbaijan and Georgia.

RAKETENSTREIT
Was will Putin mit seinem Aserbaidschan-Vorschlag?

ERISIONI in Köln
VON CHRISTIAN BOS, 24.06.07, 19:15h (Kölner Stadtanzeiger)

“Georgian singing, is in Georgians’ blood and without it Georgia will not exist” – Carl Linich

[...]

Natürlich ist „Legends of the Storm“ zuallererst eine Show, die einem möglichst großen Publikum gefallen will.

Neue "Amerikaner" in Russlands Hinterhof
(derStandard.at)
