BLOG: GEORGIA: Another confrontation with Russia?

Georgia and Russia could be heading for another confrontation.

In 1999, Russia and Georgia signed an agreement on confidence and security-building measures with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). One of the requirements of that measure is an annual Russian inspection of Georgian military installations.

But now that Russia has invaded Georgia, Georgia understandably does not want Russia to inspect its military bases for fear they will gather information for another such attack.
