MUSIC: Bibi Kvachadze and Sergi Gvarjaladze

Bibi and Sergi have started their collaboration in 1993, in a band called "Georgian Dance Empire" (GDEMPIRE); Members: Dada Dadiani, Gogi Chilashvili, Sergi Gvarjaladze, Bibi Kvachadze; The four band members had no cultural boundaries, but were musicians of diverse viewpoints, this fact was making the decision-making process even more interesting. 1993 was the toughest year for the country, a civil war - so one day it got to the point when it was simply impossible to proceed with making music, though the band managed to record 7 tracks. Bibi left the country in 1993 and resided in The Netherlands; Dada in the U.K. Sergi got married and resided in Germany, so basically the band collapsed. Though Sergi continued to work with the German musicians, particularly with a band called "Somebodies". Bibi got back in Georgia after couple of years, Sergi got back for a short visit in 1996, (a bit better times for Georgia). Sergi and Bibi decided to record a song just for fun. So they did it in the studio called "Jazz Spirit". Their first song ever was called "Fish is my Friend". Giorgi Kikaleishvili and Nika Lomidze did the video the same year and it was successfully promoted on TV. They decided to continue making fun and in December 1998, Bibi and Sergi recorded another fun song called "Churchkhela Unlimited"; Because of its oddity and eccentricity, the song was nominated on Radio Charts as the most uncommon and original song of the year 1999. Duo have recorded couple of songs since 1999. You can listen to four songs on myspace. Duo is based in Georgia, Tbilisi, rarely collaborating these days. Bibi works in a professional Sound Recording Studio called "Sano Studio", he is a session musician, a song-writer, a lyricist and a producer. Sergi is an editor in chief of the only music magazine in Georgia (OZONI) and presents two radio shows. MusicHall (Thursdays, FM103.4, TBILISI, GEORGIA) and Muzorama (Sundays, FM106.9 , TBILISI, GEORGIA).
