The study is an attempt to understand the genesis of the Chechen conflict as a political dispute within a historical context, and to examine the various solutions to the dispute floated by people from all walks of life. It also discusses the prevailing situation in Chechnya to establish the case that the dispute needs to be peacefully resolved for any durable solution instead of application of military might that would only nurture further hatred and suspicions, leading to further conflicts.
