Arthur Bondar was born in the industrial city of Krivoy Rog, Ukraine. After studying in his own town he studied at the National Linguistic University and moved to Kiev in 2000, where he earned a bachelors degree in English philology. He explored several career paths before he found his way in photography.

Bondar is now a freelance photographer, shooting his own documentary projects. He studied photography at New York University and was a participant of the Eddie Adams Workshop and NOOR-Nikon Masterclass. Bondar was awarded and granted the Magnum Emergency Fund, The Documentary Project Fund, National Geographic Grant and the Best Photographer of the Year in Ukraine. His work has been exhibited and shown in Canada, USA, England, Germany, France, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Turkey, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine. He is mentored by Donald Weber. WEBDOC: Paroles de Conflits par Raphaël Beaugrand (parismatch.com)

Dans le bel écrin de son documentaire, Raphaël Beaugrand donne un visage aux populations qui pansent leurs plaies en silence et dignité. Parmi les 8 travaux sélectionnés pour le prix RFI/France 24 de Visa pour l'image, Paroles de conflits est un véritable coup de cœur de la rédaction. J'avais pu faire connaissance de Raphael lors de ma collaboration pour le site internet du Point, en 2008. Nous anticipions l'arrivée d'un journalisme d'un genre nouveau, moins textuel et plus visuel. Il n'en fallait pas davantage pour que Raphael manifeste son voeu d'aller sur le terrain. Il resta difficile d'organiser une rédaction internet dans ce sens, avec 10 journalistes web souvent bien plus appliqués à mettre du contenu facile à indexer sur les moteurs de recherche afin de maximiser l'audience du jeune site. Les occasions de mettre une vidéo auto-produite sur le site du Point.fr se faisaient donc plutôt rares, bien qu'elles aient toutes été couronnées de succès, avec des vidéos à forte visibilité. Raphael n'en démord pas, sa patience et son insistance seront récompensées...
