Sopho Chkhikvadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia and studied art at the Nikoladze Art College, before going on to complete a masters degree at the Tbilisi State Academy of Art. At age 41 she is making her mark on the art world with exhibitions throughout Europe. Her latest collection opens at the Nati Gallery on Thursday 11th April and is already creating substantial interest amongst avid art connoisseurs.

Her work has a unique character to it, in a somewhat naïve style, evoking a wide range of emotions, predominantly portraits with a degree of comic distortion, and in some cases an almost ‘Rubinesque’ quality, but on the whole Her paintings are very beautiful and mysterious. The Yellow Car picture is a wonderful and is a wonderful conversation piece – the woman in the driving seat stares decisively ahead, ignoring the appeals of her husband!
Previous Exhibitions have included the 2012 London “Pop Art Gallery” Christmas Exhibition, 2011 Tbilisi “Gallery 9″ Personal Exhibition, 2011 Gabala Az. “Festival”, 2010 Tbilisi “Gallery Hobby”, 2009 Prague “Muzeum Montanelli”, 2009 Prague Biennale and in 2009 London “Farmiloe Fine Art Gallery” Personal Exhibition.

Sopho’s works are also held in Moscow Modern Art Museum, Muzeum Montanelli as well as in private collections all over Europe.
