WORLDMUSIC: LAKVAR - founded by Georgian composer and guitarist, Zura Dzagnidze, and the Hungarian-Bulgarian singer Hajnalka Péter

LAKVAR, is an exciting new World Music group, founded by Georgian composer and guitarist, Zura Dzagnidze, and the Hungarian-Bulgarian singer Hajnalka Péter. The band includes an array of talented and diverse musicians: the Hungarian Jazz bass player Péter Papesch, young Bulgarian-Turkish percussionist Tayfun Ates, German Jazz violin player Florian Vogel, Italian drummer Santino Scavelli. Lakvar´s sound brings together the band’s musical and cultural backgrounds, drawing on roots in Folk, Jazz, and world music, as well as other modern and traditional influences. Their music plays with darkness and light to create a unique and original sound.

Hajnalka’s unique vocal character use different traditional styles to unlock gates to hidden emotion, emerging from the music like a mystical and ancient spell. Strong and soaring melodies combine with complex rhythms, moments of stillness and fragility, as well as free and fearless improvisation and virtuosity. Not limited by convention, LAKVAR take musical risks to break through the borders and boundaries of musical traditions and open up new paths between them. Impulsive, and surprising, the music is a reflection of how cultures connect and move forward.
