Europe Meets the Land of Medea
A Youth Exchange Against Stereotypes and Xenophobia to Promote
Intercultural Understanding

Vom 15. bis 25. September 2006 findet in Kobuleti, Georgien eine Internationale Jugendbegegnung mit Teilnehmern aus der Ukraine, Georgien, Russland, Großbritannien, Estland und Deutschland statt. Dafür suchen wie noch eine Teilnehm erin/einen Teilnehmer aus Deutschland im Alter zwischen 18 und 25. Verpflegung und Unterkunft werden gestellt sowie 70% der Fahrtkosten übernommen.

Aus dem Programm:
The nine days lasting multi-cultural youth exchange is dedicated to the terms culture, nation and intercultural understanding. Six groups of young people from Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Great Britain, Estonia and Germany (four participants per country, plus one group leader) will meet for this purpose in Kobuleti/ Georgia. Based on the legend of Medea of the Greek mythology they will discuss the origins and consequences of xenophobia and stereotypes towards foreign nations. In so called Cultural Discoveries , which are self-organised by the youngsters, they will show the other participants their national habits, customs and traditions, in order to raise awareness and understanding for cultural differences. Self organisation is a central element of the exchange. It will contribute to the participants self responsibility, their ability to deal with and to solve problems independently as well as to present their own opinion and to respect a nd accept opinions of other people during discussions. Hence it supports the personal development of the young people, promote tolerance and diminish prejudices.
