EXHIBITION: New Project - The New Map of Tbilisi & UrbanCPRme

Dear Friends and colleagues,

Please find attached on the wall an invitation and a preview of our new projects: The New Map of Tbilisi & UrbanCPRme.

The projects are a result of our love for, curiosity and interest in Georgia, which started with a trip to Tbilisi right at the time of its massive privatization (end of 2005).

Warm regards,
Malkit on behalf of FAST and One Architecture...

PS the project will be exhibited from 25 Sep until 10 Jan, at the Netherlands Architecture Institute, as part of the International Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam.

PROJECT: The New Map of Tbilisi (newmapoftbilisi.org)

The MAP analyzes the destruction caused by rampant real-estate development in Tbilisi, promotes democratic planning processes and -policies and teaches us abstract lessons about the relationship between ‘wild’ capitalism and the city in emerging economies.

We are working on a project that is called: 'The New Map of Tbilisi'. In this map all old and new development in Tbilisi will be visible. With this 'new map' links and relations between various plans are put into perspective, and potential conflicts brought to light.

Can anybody help us to make this map as complete as possible? We need pictures and locations of buildings or construction sites!

Please check: www.newmapoftbilisi.org

You can send information or ask questions on this mail adress: newmapoftbilisi@gmail.com

Thanks a lot!! Please spread this post!

Activism The New Map highlights urgent issues and empowers the citizens, decision makers and civil society to promote alternative solutions for the city’s sustainable future.

Analysis The New Map of Tbilisi generates spatial tools to monitor land deals and their effect on the development of the city, such that the government and its citizens will be empowered to act and (re-)create a better and livable city.

Abstraction Analyzing the processes that are made visible in the map makes it possible to learn lessons for other parts of the world, especially in the former Soviet-Union and other emerging economies.

Map The Map is now being constructed.

About us The New Map of Tbilisi is a project carried out by FAST, a not-for-profit architecture practice that studies the relationship between planning an human rights, and One Architecture, an Amsterdam-based planning practice with projects in Georgia and Gio Sumbadze, an independent, multidisciplinary, artist based in Tbilisi.
