PHOTOGRAPHY: Oni Synagogue in Racha with the Oldest Torah in Georgia (Caucasus)

Once, half of Oni was Jewish. After massive out-migration in the early 90s, only about 25 worshippers remain

This man kindly opened the synagogue for us, and brought out the Torah for us to admire.

The Torah it's printed on calfskin.

The Oldest Torah in Georgia didn't catch how old, but old enough that reportedly some Israelis want to take it to Israel for safekeeping.
