Oil Field Near Baku

Today is a good day "I did this in sepia because it looks like history....but this was taken out of the window of our 4x4 about 20kms from Baku as we drove south yesterday.Definitely one to see BIG

Don’t get the wrong idea – Azerbaijan is a beautiful country, but these old oil field still exist….and still produce oil. It looks like an environmental disaster area, but I noticed lots of wildlife around…flocks of seabirds and ducks kestrels in the air.

I understand that Marco Polo (if he ever really got here!) complained of the ground being black and sticky around – however many years ago that was."
