This Rare Authentic Antique Caucasian Pile Rug from the Gendje
Region of the Southern Caucasus Mountains has a Hand Spun Wool Pile
Symmetrically Hand Knotted to Hand Spun, Undyed Wool Warps and Hand Spun
Grey Black Undyed Wefts with Both Sides of the Knot Laying Flat and
Displays Unusual Medallions of Almost Cherlabad Form in the Eagle Style
on a Madder Red Ground and Surrounded by a Wide Border of Hooked Motifs.
The Range of Vegetable Dyes include a Range of Excellent Indigo Blues
and Blue Green Tones, Well Entrenched Madder Reds and a Gorgeous Deep
Aubergine and the Layout of the Field Design Shows a Very Fine Balance.
This Genuine OVER 100 Year Old Gendje Pile Rug from the Caucasus
Mountains has Been Hand Washed, Measures 2.02m x 1.1cm (6ft 7.5 inches x
3ft 7.2 inches) has Original Selvedges and Is Still Suitable for Use on
the Floor in a Household Situation where it will last for many years.
It is in Good Condition for its Age with some minor signs of the years
including wear at the warp ends, some small marginally lower areas of
pile and a couple of very small professionally reknotted areas. See the
