Young journalists from Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine as well as from other successor states of the former Soviet Union, from Central Asia and the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) are now invited to apply for the "Journalists International" Programme at the International Center of Journalism, Freie Universitaet Berlin.
Participants are offered a three-month study and work residence, which consists of a six-week academic course at the International Center of Journalism, followed by a one-week information-tour into one of many regions of Germany and finally a six-week internship at a Berlin TV, radio, online or newspaper editorial office.
"Journalists International" awards up to 10 scholarships for the duration of the programme.
Additionally, participants receive a grant to cover their travel expenses, and accommodation in university residential halls is also provided.
Eligible to apply are journalists who are in possession of a university degree and with good knowledge of the German language. For justified cases there is also the opportunity to participate in a one-month German-class at the Goethe-Institut Berlin prior to the start of the programme. Applicants should not be older than 35 years and must have journalism or media experience.
Deadline for applications for the autumn and spring courses 2011 is October, 30.2010.
