Suliko Zhgenti - famous Georgian screen-writer was born on june 22, 1925. Wife-Leila Jghenti, daughters-Olga and ketevan. He was Honored Artist of Georgia. Prize-winner of the Lenin Premium, of Memed Abashidze State Premium, of the Patriotic War of the first quality orden, of the Honour Orden of Georgia, Honorable citizen of Batumi and Levitse (Slovakia).In 1954 was gradueted from The Moscow State Film Institute (VGIK)- faculty of screenplay under the leadership of such of Soviet masters as Evgeni Gabrilovich and V. Vaisfeld are. Suliko Zhgenti is Author of 20 films and 6 unrealized scenarios. Was published a collection of his stories "Seaside evenings"(1958), In 1972 his film-scripts " The warmth of your hands" and " Saplings" were published in Moscow in a publishing house "Iskustvo" (Art) in Georgian and Russian languages. He was awarded by some prizes for the best script at the different union and international film festivals. The warld nown film "Father of soldier"(1965) after Suliko Zhgenti`s script is included in the "Golden Fund" of Russian cinematography. The sculptural monument was dedicated to the filmstar-Giorgi Makharashvili -of "Solder' s father" in Georgia. His play "The children of land" was staged at The Rustavely State Academic Theatre in Tbilisi. His biography is introduced in the encyclopaedia of cinematography (Russian edition), in Georgian encyclopedia, in the book: "Who is who in Georgia" too.He passed away on February 3, 2000. Was burried in the Didube Pantheon of Georgian Writers and Public Figures in Tbilisi. In 2001 was published a book "Marginalias from the old and new notebooks", where philosophical essays of the script-writer are included, herewith are essay on "Don Kikhot of Lamancha", his ways of thinking, interviews, excerpts from his screenplays, photoes, reminiscenses memories of well-known foreign cinematographers and public figures about the script-writer Suliko Zhgenti and his works.
