MUSIC: Gogi Dzodzuashvili & Nika Machaidze

Gogi Dzodzuashvili wurde 1971 in Tbilisi geboren und studierte dort an der medizinischen Universität. Seine ersten Alben „clear & cold“, „friends“ erschienen 1994 und 1996. Es folgte „sami“ zusammen mit Nika Machaidze und Manana Menabde, im Jahr 2000 „mjave message“. Gogi Dzodzuashvili schrieb Musik für Theater („The crucible“ von Arthur Miller und „King Lear“ unter Regie von D. Doiashvili sowie „medea.material“ von Heiner Müller) und Film („fly alone“ von Nika Machaidze, „Sieben Tage in Tibet“ von Gio Mgeladze und „timecode“ von Sandro Jandieri). 2004 erschien beim Label Max Ernst die CD „post industrial boys“.




Born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1972, 'Nikakoi' ('Nobody' in Russian) Nika Machaidze is not only a highly-regarded electronic composer Erast but an award-winning film and video director too. He was educated in animation and film at the Tbilisi State Institute of Cinematography during the 1990s and since 1996 has directed numerous videos, some with Tamuna Karumidze and some solo (for Gogi Dzodzuashvili and his own Erast track "Poema").


Machaidze is the co-founder of Goslab, a multi-media collective of Georgian artists that includes TBA (Natalie Beridze) and George Dzodzuashvili (aka Gogi Ge.Org and Post Industrial Boys). In addition to his own music, he has created music for fashion shows, plays, documentaries, and films and, in 1999, won a grand prize at the Festival of Electronic Music in Paris. A successful concert at the WMF club in 2001 led to the release of his first album Sestrichka on WMF Records in March, 2002 followed by the EP City Lights and Shentimental, also on WMF. He has performed at Berlin's Transmediale, Barcelona's SONAR, and at festivals in Paris and Athens.


"Q4" his contribution to the 2004 Advanced Public Listening compilation and first appearance on the Berlin-based Laboratory Instinct imprint, was followed by the EPs GoodAir and Minimissing, which were subsequently combined on the Goodair + Minimissing release. 2005 found Machaidze releasing the Erast full-length Cyberpunk on Laboratory Instinct.
