Two important visitors from Georgia have just completed visits to Yerevan where they publicly expressed assurances of Tbilisi’s commitment to good neighborly relations with Armenia. The first, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze told inquiring journalists that there was no persecution or discrimination of Armenians living in Georgia. The Foreign Minister also told journalists that the economic problems of the majority Armenian population in the Javakh region were no different from problems elsewhere in Georgia. He added that the government of Georgia was anxious to improve conditions and integrate the citizens and economy of Javakh with the rest of Georgia. Sentiments regarding good relations between Armenia and Georgia were also voiced by the second visitor, Chairman of Parliament of Georgia Davit Bakradze.
