The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra was founded in summer 2005, including outstanding string players of the Caucasian region under the leadership of the German conductor, composer and pianist Uwe Berkemer.
The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra is a permanent, full-time performing group of 17 professional musicians, based in Tbilisi. Uwe Berkemers vision was and is, to demonstrate that music is a unifying force across borders and boundaries; a symbol for peace and mutual understanding.
Besides frequent travelling abroad, the orchestra participates intensively in the cultural life of Tbilisi.
