MEDIA: Georgia: Newspaper offices robbed (cascfen.net)

Media.ge, Tbilisi, 27 Feb 2009 - On February 26 some unidentified persons robbed the Tbilisi-based Georgia and World newspaper editorial office. PC processors have been taken away. “A huge grating together with a part of the wall has been crushed down. PC processors have been taken away; more expensive belongings were intact.

Therefore I can unambiguously say we face not a crime but an attempt to hinder the issue of the third edition of the newspaper,” Irakli Todua, the Georgia and World editor reported to the Georgian daily Rezonansi. “The investigation into the robbery case, according to him, has been started.

The Georgia and World, the newspaper editor said, publishes anti-government articles. The previous edition, Irakli Todua reported, published very objective material featuring President Mikheil Saakashvili’s actual activities and goals.

Reporting to the Rezonansi Todua pointed out that despite the robbery the work will be carried on and the following edition is to come out.
