The "Golden Fund", created by a group of Georgian Radio-workers, is an important component of the national cultural inheritance.
The "Golden Fund" of Georgian radio was founded in 1947. The oldest records belong to 1901, the time, when the English firm "Gramophone" has opened its recording studio in Georgia. Its aim was to write down Trans-Causational national folklore. In this studio were first recorded Georgian folk songs and the voice of Georgian famous writer Akaki Tsereteli. Besides, during the years the Fund was being enriched by repertoire, recopied from gramophone records and the tape recordings, brought in from abroad. The "Gold Fund " of Radio consists of the most complete sound chronicles of our country. By variety and exceptional value it is of worldwide importance. The voices preserved in the "Golden Fund" of Radio represent not only the most honorable and well-known Georgian Art workers and scientists, but the whole cultural world as well.
The Fund preserves 14768 hours 59 minutes 15 seconds of mono and 3792 hours 53 minutes 54 seconds of stereo proposal records. The Fund is a lively organism and is filling up daily by new materials.
