"Liberty Theater" was opened on March 31, 2001. Avtandil Varsimashvili is the founder and artistic director of the theatre."Liberty Theatre" was based on a territory of a former power-saw bench of The Griboedov State Russian Theater.

The former power-saw bench due to serious reconstruction activites has gained original shape (Architect -Paata Chavchanidze).
It has a shape of a sailing vessel, that itself represents a symbol of freedom. The theatre is based on a principle of enterprise. The theatre does not have the troop but technical staff that assist various creative groups to realize their ideas.
"Liberty Theatre" is ready to offer its stage to all performances and theatrical projects that express freedom of person or free theatrical experiments.
"Liberty Theatre" does not have the general source of funding. That is why the theater is grateful to all organizations or private individuals who supported it financially:
"Liberty Theatre" is proud of cooperation with leading TV company "Rustavi-2" that supported opularization of the theatre.
