What we see now in Georgia is a proof that The Man of Action would always win over The World of Words. At least on a short distance, but this distance, even if it is short, would cost the Word more than a pretty penny.Putin as real KGB-man and the man of action started to preparation for his triumph long time ago. Several times he tested the Western leaders, to feel sure, that his theory that the West is just the world of words – is true.
His very first test was many years ago when he was a Prime Minister and the main pretender for Presidency. In 1999 KGB's has organized three coordinated bombings of apartment buildings in Moscow, Volgodonsk and Buinaksk, which was used as casus belli to start second Chechen war - war we remember now as the most bloody and brutal Caucasian war with ethnic cleansing and acts of genocide organized by Russian Federation Military Forces.
Russia got criticized for this… but nothing more. That clearly show to Putin, that he can do with his citizens whatever he wants. He got pleased with that.
Since, he knew, that if he can take lives, than he can easily take property. The way towards state-capitalism was open. Putin’s KGB became the powerful Corporate Raiding organization. First, of course, they attack mostly Russian’s private property. Gusinski or Khodorkovski cases are well known for everybody, but later on, Putin decided to go further and to expropriate foreign investor’s private property as well. At the same time he gambled well between western countries, leaders, investors – kicking ones out but inviting others. This was successful – while one’s were claiming and protesting, other’s were shaking his hand. Towards Russia European Union was all, but the union. Moreover, even those, offended, hiding their grudge, were keeping smiles on faces, hoping for excuse and future co-operation.
That almost gave Russia Carte-Blanche. Russia is sole non-NATO member, who was granted de-facto veto-power, we all have seen this year in NATO Bucharest summit.
