End of the honeymoon for Medvedev

When President Dmitry Medvedev of Russia emerged from four hours of talks with his French counterpart, Nicolas Sarkozy, on Tuesday to present a plan to end the battle for South Ossetia, his image as a pro-western liberal leader appeared at first glance to remain intact.
But behind the handshakes many questions remain unanswered – not just about how the deal will be enforced, but also what Russia’s military response to Georgia’s bid to seize control of the region will ultimately mean for Mr Medvedev’s presidency.
